2024 Taupo Classic presented by Cosana

Taupō Disc Golf are very proud to announce details of the '2024 Taupō Classic presented by Cosana'. 

This three-day event is the first tournament of the 2024 Tour Down Under and sanctioned by both the PDGA (B-Tier) and NZDG (50 pointer). 

It will offer an estimated $10,000 pro purse.  

Taking place at the world class Spa Park, this 54-hole event is limited to 150 competitors and will feature the most challenging layout we have ever presented. 

This is our club's premier tournament, and we are targeting top level players from across both New Zealand and overseas. Accordingly, the registration schedule will be structured using ratings-based tiers.  

This Taupō Classic will be played over the weekend prior to the NZ National Championships. If you are travelling to them, Taupō is only 3hrs by road, so why not come a few days early and play both!

Format 

3x 18 hole rounds (same layout) over three days, tee time start. Group 1: MPO, FPO, MP40, MA1 (Gold layout). Par 61, approx 2450m. Group 2: FA1, MA40, FA40, MA2 (Blue layout). Par 64, approx 2250m.

8:00am- 8:30pm Practice day. The course (both gold and blue layouts) will be fully setup and available to play under tournament conditions.

3:00pm- 5:00pm $1,000 invitational exhibition skins game. Five of the best and brightest personalities go head to head over 9 holes to take home early bragging rights and a fat stack of cash! A big gallery is expected for what should be a super fun and not to be missed warm up event! One wildcard spot up for grabs!

6:00pm- 9:00pm Event dinner at Jimmy Coop's Lakehouse. Come down to the beautiful Taupō lake front area and hang out with the disc golf family. Famous burger and beer meal deal, details to be confirmed.

8:00am - 5:30pm 'Day One' play. 18 holes, cards of four, TD draw, tee times from hole 1 at ten-minute intervals.

6:00pm- 9:30pm $1,500 'Hole in One' Party. Last year the ace didn't get hit so the prize has jackpotted! Join in on the fun and step up to take your chance to win! DJ, disc vendor stands, food trucks and good vibes.
